Job Description

• • Working within a discipline, the Database Administrator will plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application, and adaptation of information technology techniques, procedures and criteria in areas including infrastructure operations. 
  • This position will devise new approaches to problems encountered to provide solutions to the customer. 
  • The Database Administrator will support a discipline in the performance of complex and demanding assignments requiring initiative and independent judgment.
  • Defines operating procedures and maintenance schedules and liaises with customers to assess and develop appropriate information technology solutionsAnalyzes, diagnoses, designs, plans, executes, and evaluates work to time, cost, and quality targetPerform database software installation /patch / upgrade to development, test, and production serverPerform database instance and schema creation, migration, merge, reorganization, archive, restoratioPerform database instance backup and recovery as necessaryPerform database instance and schema security setupPerform database and data tuning, capacity planning, change managementPerform database tool and technology evaluationExhibits thorough familiarity with available methods, procedures, tools, equipment, and standards associated with own area ofspecialization and makes correct choices from alternativesAssist program developers with database design issues, use of functions, stored procedures, and packagesConfigure distributed database services (replication and high availability) and maintain, monitor such servicesProvide advice and guidance on technical mattersBe able to log Service Requests (SRs) with Oracle and Microsoft, apply patches and coordinate with developers, support analysts andusers to verify a patch has corrected a problem without negative consequencesPerform coordination with a geographically disbursed team of Operations DBAsAble to work non-standard shift to support other time-zones.
